Itinerary
In Baños de Montemayor, you will take the causeway towards Béjar; you won’t need to enter Béjar, as you will have to follow the path to the left before arriving. This town has many interesting places to visit if you have enough time, though. The causeway goes parallel to the road and you will see the river Cuerpo de Hombre on the right side; cross the road and continue on the causeway straight on until you get to Calzada de Béjar. Afterwards, you will keep going on passing by Valverde de Valdelacasa and Valdelacasa, and then you will get to one of the most emblematic paces in this route, Fuenterroble de Salvatierra, a hospitable place where the priest Blas was helped by the other residents and they rebuilt the church house, which nowadays is one of the friendliest hostels on the way.
Fuenterroble de Salvatierra
Altitude: 951 m
This town has 262 inhabitants and it is one of the reference places in the Silver Route while crossing Salamanca. Next to the church you find the most interesting monuments (some milestones, gravestones and a stretch of the Roman causeway.
What can you visit?
Santa María La Blanca Church, a magnificent Gothic construction from the 15th Century, with a solid, restored tower. The building has 3 naves and 3 access doors, the main one and two laterals. Inside, you can see an amazing altarpiece attributed to Churriguera and dated in 1710.
Santo Cristo del Socorro Chapel is a small building with a granite wall. It has just one nave and small bell gable.
