Itinerary

Leaving from the pilgrims’ hostel, you will go to the main square, where you will see Merino and Don Borja Towers, Gil Blas Parador and the Town Hall. Follow Los Hornos street, which goes up between Don Borja Tower and the Town Hall.

You will leave behind Santillana town centre and go straight on in the first fork; some metres ahead, you will get to another fork, where you will turn left on a path leading towards some stairs that connect with the CA-351 of Ubiarco. Cross this road and continue straight on towards the local road leading to Arroyo. On this road you will find a fork and turn right, and then you will get to Arroyo.

Leaving Virgen del Terreno Chapel to the left, you will keep going straight on the main path until you get to a fork, where you will turn left passing by a farm.

Go up a path and then go down to get to Oreña. After crossing the small bridge over San Tito Stream, you will get to the village, to a square with a recreation area and a fountain; from here, take the street to the right. Continue straight on to get to the intersection where the schools are located. Once you get here, keep going straight on. 100 m ahead, you will find a fork and turn right, heading towards San Pedro Church.

After passing by the church, you will see an intersection where you will continue straight on. Descend on a path towards a fork next to the wall of a house. Here, you will turn left to access the first houses of Caborredondo. Soon after, you will get to the old road CA-352, where you will turn right and following it you will pass by San Bartolomé Chapel, with a fountain and a rest area.

You will leave Caborredondo following the road, crossing the CA-131 and going on the CA-352 to leave after 700 m, turning right on a path. Going down to the valley you will get closer to Cigüenza. After this turn right and later on you will cross a bridge over a stream to get to San Martín de Cigüenza Church.

From this point, you should continue on the right and later on, you will cross a small bridge to get to San Pantaleón Chapel, in Herrería Borough.

Now, you will start ascending a short but hard slope that connects with the CA-353, taking it to the right. Keep going on towards the entrance to Cóbreces. 300 m ahead, you will leave the road and take a byroad to the right, between two houses. Descending on a narrow path, you will turn left on a street and get to a new rest area with benches and a fountain. After this, go up to San Pedro Advíncula Church and then descend to the right heading to the pilgrims’ hostel.

Leaving from the hostel, you will go up to the right and on the street that passes by the church. Continue straight on to get to a fork and then turn left; 250 m ahead you will turn left on a path. Later on, you will find two forks, turning right in both to finally get to the CA-356. Follow it to the right and cross Conchuga stream, and then continue until you get to La Venta del Tramalón.

From the chapel and without crossing the CA-131 you will turn to the left on it to leave it after 30 m, turning left again to take a byroad towards a neighborhood 100 m away. Next to it, you will turn right and get to another path, getting to a new fork and turning right; continue on a lane that leads to a cemetery connecting with the CA-358, which you will take to the left, on the bicycle lane. Continue on it leaving Ruiloba camping to the left to then get to the CA-359 after 1 km, turning left and arriving at La Iglesia Borough.

From the town hall you will take a street heading towards a youth camping, leaving the town hall to the left. After this, you will continue straight on, passing by the Youth Hostel facilities to arrive at San Roque Chapel, in Pando.

Continue on the CA-360 heading towards Concha. Leaving Pando, you will see Carmelitas Monastery on the right side; keep going on La Fuente street. Continue on the local road, you will descend to get to Concha after turning left.

Once you get to Concha, you will go through the town centre and will turn right, getting to a chapel. Then, turn left and you will get to a path leading to a fork, where you will turn left again; later on, you will pass by a farm entrance and you will continue to the right, ascending.

When you get to the CA-131 you will cross Gandaria Stream via Portillo Bridge, entering Comillas. Go on for 100 m to the left via the streets Antonio López and Saturnino Fdez. de Castro towards La Peña Street, where you will find “La Peña” pilgrims’ hostel.
