CP21 - Redondela - Pontevedra - 15,5 km

 

Itinerary

You will leave Redondela from the pilgrims’ hostel, crossing Plaza de la Alfóndiga, Santiago’s Church, rúas do Curceiro and da Picota and Santa María’s Chapel.

Cross to the other side of the road N-550 and leave Redondela. After crossing a little bridge over river Raxeiro you will enter Cesantes. If you turn left, you will go through a forest and will get to rúa do Areeiro, crossing the N-550 again.

Once in Carretera de Viso, you will ascend and see a recreation area with stone tables and a fountain. You will get to the top (Eido dos Mouros) and, on the left side, you will see what is left of Casa de Postas. While you descend, you will be able to see the Vigo Estuary and San Simón Island.

Now, you will enter Arcade by the N-550 after 700 m. going through the village you will get to Puentesanpaio after crossing a bridge. 100 m after the bridge and going up Rúa Do Concello, you will continue towards “crucero de O Souto”. After crossing the medieval “Ponte Nova”, you will enter a beautiful stretch, called “Vrea Vella de Canicouba”. This path will lead you to the base of the Cacheiro “cruceiro”.  

You will go down, always surrounded by pine trees, towards the Valley of Alcource and Boullosa, bordering the ruins of another Casa de Postas. Once you find the road that leads to Canicouba, you will have to cross the one heading to Santa Marta. Passing by Santa Colomba de Bértola, and near “Sales del Sur” factory, you will be on the outskirts of Santa Marta de Ganderón. You will cross the Valley of Tomeza heading to Santa Marta Chapel. 50 m from here, you will get to the road leading from San Andrés de Figueirido towards Pontevedra.

Then, you will pass by Pobo, Tomeza, Ponte Condesa and Ponte Couto. You will have to cross the road of Marcón to enter Pontevedra. After crossing under the railroad , you will find the pilgrims’ hostel on your right.
